Oog & Gappo
There is a whole world of exciting possibilities in the kitchen, especially if you're a playful little monkey. Now, if only the old man would stop washing those dishes...
"Oog & Gappo in the kitchen" is the first in a series of children's books about Oog & Gappo published for the iPhone™ / iPod™ Touch.
Get to know the old man Oog and his odd friend Gappo! In this particular adventure we meet Oog & Gappo as they are being busy in the kitchen. But, it’s not just fun and games - someone has to wash the dishes and swab the deck! Fortunately, best friends can always make place for joyful moments.
Oog & Gappo is a language independent book not making use of any texts to tell it's story. Instead the story is driven forward by sounds and images on each page. When the event on a page has been played out the book automatically scrolls to the next page (on by default) and the story continues. You can choose to turn this feature off and instead swipe to the next page whenever you feel ready to do so. Swiping between pages can of course be done in autoplaying-mode as well. Turning off automatic scrolling is just a means to enable a pause and opportunity for you and the child to talk about the events that have taken place and perhaps speculate in what will happen next.
It is our aim to stimulate children's imagination and in a playful manner encourage them to communicate more - The iPhone / iPod Touch allows us to do just that in a wonderful way with it's multimedia capabilities, ease of use and interface possibilities. Oog & Gappo is a book that can be handled by the child itself as well as something that can be enjoyed together by adults and children.
In the settings you can turn autoscrolling between pages on or off, select if you would like the background music to be playing or not, choose if you want to allow a tap to skip the intro animation and set the volume. This last option (adjusting volume) is something that 1st Generation iPod Touch users might want to do before starting the book itself since that device lacks the volume buttons that otherwise are more conveniently used to adjust the volume.
